Viña Maipo perustettiin Chilen Maipo-laaksoon 1948. Alue on yksi Chilen alkuperäisiä viinintuotantoalueita joilla on pitkät perinteet laatuviinien tuotannossa. Viña Maipo on saanut nimensä pienen Maipon kylän mukaan jonka asukkaat elävät viinintuotannosta. Viña Maipolla on hallussaan alueen laatutarhoja ja talon viinien laatu on mitä parasta hintaluokasta riippumatta. Tämän todistaa Viña Maipon jatkuva suosion nousu täällä Suomessakin. Viña Maipon viinintekijä ja nouseva kyky alalla on ollut vuodesta 2007 saakka Max Weinlaub.
